Our Mission

The Climate+Positive Investing Alliance (C+PIA) is a global coalition of investors, policymakers, innovators, implementers, scientists, researchers, community builders and solutionists collaborating to accelerate a Climate+Positive economy.

Why We Exist

Net Zero by 2050 pledges are decades too late to keep global warming below the 1.5°C Paris Agreement targets, and truly solving climate change requires reducing GHG pollution to pre-industrial levels to reverse the damage that has already been done. To get there, we must help global investments and financial flows become net Climate+Positive as quickly as possible, where the climate impacts from all capital allocations fund more climate benefits than harm. C+PIA helps Members do the full Scope 1-3 climate and climate benefit math necessary to ensure that investments are really Climate+Positive solutions instead of greenwashed distractions. C+PIA Members pledge to make their portfolios aligned with net climate solutions instead of net climate pollution, while sharing best practices and supporting each other in this journey.

C+PIA Events & Publications

C+PIA co-hosts events around the world, designed to build community, identify pain points, navigate shared challenges, and accelerate Climate+Positive policies and financial flows. C+PIA events generally include private, Chatham House Rule-style conversations designed to share candid experiences and foster honest discussions of financial, technical, scientific and political realities that dive much deeper than typical talking points and marketing materials. All C+PIA Members can co-host C+PIA events, which are generally scheduled to coincide with substantial global gatherings of climate investors, policymakers, and innovators, including the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP), Asia Impact Nights, Asia Climate Investing Summit (ACIS), London Climate Week, New York Climate Week, San Francisco Climate Week, and the United Nations General Assembly. Key findings and recommendations from C+PIA events are shared in follow-on publications.

Membership Pledge

C+PIA Members can be individual investors, investment advisors, fund managers, government policymakers and regulators, business innovators, academics, nonprofit community builders or other network partners. All Members who directly control financial asset allocations pledge to align investments they control with Climate+Positive Targets, while other Members who do not directly control substantial financial assets pledge to support Climate+Positive Targets. All C+PIA Members pledge to support and achieve these Climate+Positive Targets wherever possible:

• Full Scope 1-3 GHG footprinting for all Climate+Positive Targets.

• By 2030: At least 50% of portfolio assets will be Climate+Positive.

• By 2035: Full portfolio will be net Climate+Positive.

• Divestment from any holdings in fossil fuel companies.

• Uphold indigenous rights, DEIJ principles, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

• Act with integrity to support C+PIA's Mission and Members to accelerate local and global Climate+Positive solutions.

• We are a member-led, volunteer-run, nonprofit alliance of climate investors.

• $0 membership fees, though in-kind donations are appreciated.

• Membership status is reviewed and verified by our Board of Directors.
